been going on for about a week, i've bled the brakes, changed boosters, changed master cylinder, no luck.
now my front brake pads are making sound like metal to metal .. would having low pads make my brake pedal go to the floor? |

yeah, ud definately noticed a deference in pedal quality if your pads are down to the metal.
check it is actually that, and change em!

low pads shouldn't make the pedal go to the floor, cause the caliper automatically compensates for the wear.
Low pads will make the metal metal sound, so suggest replace them, and bleed the system again. Have you bled the system from each caliper? If you have done this, and its still like it, then i would say you have a leaking caliper somewhere. |

yeh sounds like your losing or well lost brake line pressure which aint good

yeah well i suppose i may as well go the front calipers new-second-hand set ... and throw new brake pads on tomorrow.. if this doesn't fix the problem, i don't know what will !

do a search on this, i have a similar problem and someone suggested to me i unplug an electrical connector from the master cylinder, pump the brake pedal a few times and this *should* return the pedal travel/pressue to normal.

another thing is to check the bleeder nipples. have someone look at the bleeder nipples while u put ur foot on the brake to see any are leaking.
i was bleeding the brakes in my ed wagon last weekend with a vaccum type bleeder all was good untill i put my foot on the brake and found that the rear left was spirting fluid straight out the bleeder nipple each time i pushed the peddle down which went right to the floor. i took the nipple out and it looked fine almost brand new, put it back in and it was doing the same. so i replace it and rebleed this system and was fine. ( im just glad i found this before i went on a trip up north in 2 weeks, wouldnt want this to happen while driving) bucko

bought new brake pads for the front today, $30 from bursons... thought that was good
now, i think my front calipers are siezing or something... everyime i take my foot off the brake pedal at about 10-20kmph i can still hear brake pads go metal to metal sound... is that a sign i need new calipers? |

I have a feeling that you may have warped rotors or very loose wheel bearings. To test my theory pump the brake pedal a few times until you have a good pedal when the car is a rest. Wait a while and see if you still have a full brake pedal.

i forgot to mention
i havn't fitted the pads yet, but bought them today i think you were thinking i have put them on, but i haven't yet but your reply still stands yeah? so i should test your theory yeah? |

Interesting theory on warped rotors , I believe i have this problem on my ute. How does tthis method tell me my rotors are U/S.

also dont forget to bleed your lines, and top up with dot 4 oil , a low oil level or air in your lines can be hell with hydro systems.

In this case my theory is that the slides are seized and hen combined with a warped disk when the car is moving the piston is pushed back into the caliper by the warp requiring more pedal movement to restore pressure. By not rotating the rotor then this will stop the piston retreating into the bore.

hmmm i pulled both front wheels off today, and i must say i think my calipers are siezed!! they're both got firm grip on the disks... i have to put a bit of force to turn the wheels... pads are low as i suspected..
also noticed i have a bit of play(can move the front left disc a bit - which probably is the reason i get the whole steering wheel shaking and vibrating at over 60kmph and over 100+kmph.. (also steering rack is probably nackered as well) hell i might just let the car sit and start collecting new parts, wheel bearings,brake pads(already have), disc brakes & tierods ends ... |
