A mate of mine has killed his auto box (AU1 forte I6), and I was wondering if a box from a 94 NC Fairlane V8 would fit with the change of bell housing?
thanks |

I'm happy to be corrected, but I'm 99% sure the input shaft are different lenghts between the I6 and the V8 autos

I think the yolk for the tail shaft is bigger for the eights. I know that for sure for commodores but im not sure about holdens

The input shaft is not a straight swap on manual I6 to V8 boxes because first gear is a different ratio thus the mating gears also need swapping it is easier to shorten the shaft in a manual than swap it.
With the Auto box I am not sure how the input shaft and pump setup is different other than length but unless you have knowledge and ability in this area I would not assume it is a straight swap.

No it wont fit. The problem is the output shaft being different, and the box has to come apart to resolve that one.
