Hi guys,

I know i haven't been on here in ages and you guys prob thought i was dead or something but anyways my problems are as follows:

1) The box changes very rough into second when hot

2) The box has a slight flare when changing into third when hot

3) The shifter get VERY VERY hot when driving around town. What i mean is that you can barely touch it. There is also alot of heat coming from both sides of the tranny suround in the car itself. (No need for a heater hehehe)

4) There is about a 3" gap between the box and the tailshaft. This isn't normal right?

This is a 1990 EA GL wagon. Now as far as i remember, this model didn't come out with a standard 4spd.

I spoke with a tranny place and they have said that it was prob the S5 solinoed and to fix it would be $450. Now if it is the S5, how much are they and how easy to fix?

Now my other problem is that it is duel fuel (not a prob in itself) and the petrol runs like a bag of S**T. I have replaced the fuel filter allready. LPG runs ok (A little boggie on standstill but getting better  ). We have replaced the spark plugs and done a engine oil change. It was going allright until the fan belts snapped and we had to change them. (Damn stupid pulley seizing  ) would this have caused the power to drop suddenly. When running on petrol, idle is really really bad and when slowing down, if you dont have your foot on the brake as well as the acc. it will stall or come very close to stalling, but if you put your foot in it, it goes like a rocket but it is rich (Black smoke).

Any ideas people?

P.S. sorry about length

Alright...transmission I wouldn't have a clue but it sounds about right with the S5 giving in. But someone else will help you with that.

Your car running like a bag of s**t could be many reasons. You might need to get it retuned but that's just me. Fuel reg might also contribute to this. A vacuum leak might make the car run rough but not sure why is only on petrol.

Are the spark plugs used for petrol or gas?

phong =P~

hi
just a thought has the vacuum line come off or split on the map sensor(black box)on the firewall near the manifold???

if this hose is off the engine will run extreamly rough and blow heaps of black smoke..

and would possibly make it idle rough with gas aswell because of vac leak

Well that is the thing. I have had it retuned and tuned countless times (and the baqnk knows it) but it has not helped. I mean it helps a little bit and then 2 days later it is back the same way.

I though the same thing, maybe a slipt vac hose. I searched and all vac hoses are on and allright plus also it ould make the gas run rough as well. The fuel reg maybe the prob yes. It i think it maybe the breather hose for some reason as there was a hose squashed under another one (so that it was totally blocked off) and i got that out so maybe it is that?

I just dont know any more

I would think maybe oxy sensor, or map sensor...

to check oxy sensor get a digi multi meter and and unplug sensor, should swing between 0.2 to 0.9 volts.. when stuffed they tend to just sit on a set voltage eg 0.5 check it when engine at normal operating temp as they take about 2 minutes to read right when cold
