hoping someone may have had this, every so often, mainly when rolling back or reversing i get this loud metal clunking noise (its awfull to hear). i think its coming from the rear left area but it could be the diff, just started. it drives fine, no loss in power and i haven't heard it when moving forward so im out of my league here, just hoping someone may have an answer or point me in a possible direction. thx for any help offered

doesn't the handbrake still use a drum?mine does the same thing pretty sure its handbrake coz if I drive slow and pull up the handbrake a little I get the same sound

Maybe i should have read the signature to find out what model the post meant! i assumed later model e series to current.

yeah its for my ea, and there is no drums, its discs all the way. im not ruling out some sort of brake failure but its only when in reverse so thats why im point more to driveline. going to rip the rim of maybe tonight and have a looksie (problem with simon v5's not the easiest to see through). thx for the help so far, and i will check the handbrake lines and linkages when i get the rim off

so the EA doesn't have a drum inside the hub for the handbrake?weird,yeah jack up your car and spin the wheel back and forth and see if there is any play in driveline.

um, i thought all cars had a drum handbrake, my eb does ...

EA uses the same set up as the X series, a lever that runs on 3 ball bearings and a cam to apply pressure to the pad when handbrake activated. A real pain when the pads have to be replaced screwing back in the auto handbrake adjust.
