I tried to post this in the for sale forums, but I'm too much of a noob :(

Anyways: I recently became the proud owner of a rebuilt donk and transmission via the magic of ebay. Good timing too, as my current motor is starting to fade away. The plan was to get this engine dump in the carpark at work, borrow a crane and a mate or two with a clue, and put it in over the weekend over much beer and bbq action.

Well, yesterday I got suddenly unemployed :) I was marched from the building and all.. quite proud of it actually.

Problem is: now I've got no space to work in, and I don't know that I could afford the $800 odd I've been quoted to get someone else to do it.

But then I realised that a lot of people here have more of a clue than most mechanics. So I'm wondering: does anybody want to do this over one weekend? I am quite willing to pay, I'm not looking for a freebie here, and I'm willing to pay more than you'd be getting if you actually worked for a mechanic. Name your price. I'm happy to help out as unskilled labour (beer fetcher and tool holder if need be) and if you want it, the old engine and transmission are yours. Or, I'll find a way to drag them away at the end of the day.

If anybody in the Brisbane area (pref North, but beggars cant be choosers) can help me out, lemme know!

If I thought the car would make it that far I'd hire a trailer and drive it down :\

I'm currently in virgina, but I can get to just about anywhere. The new engine is in Maroochy, getting it down here is another challenge - hopefully the bloke I bought it from will have some ideas :) The engine I've currently got in there runs, but it misses a fair bit and is pretty badly worn - failed a compression test and CO2 test and such forth. The transmission seems more or less OK since the new speedo sender went in) but the gaskets are shot and it leaks. Upshot is, since putting in the new overflow bottle this arvo I can drive about a fair bit without too many dramas :)

I'd like to get it done sooner rather than later though!
