when I turn off the engine a squeeling noise (lasts for a few seconds) is coming from the PCV valve on rocker cover
is the valve supposed to have a noticable rattle with engine going like the XF's?
the ball is just goes stright up when turn on
will this effect performance if not operating properly?

yes but only when the engines off
seems to be fairly high vacuum through the valve?

manifold vacuum is aplied to the valve.
if you're unsure if it's stuffed or not just get a new one from ford they are very cheap. make sure you get an EB on as they are a strnger build made of streal not plastic.
the later plastic ones often break and drop the valve into the rocker gear and can break stuff
