Hello

I drive a '98 EL Fairmont Ghia sedan.

I have two tail light related issues:

(1) When braking the LHS brake light is dimmer than the RHS brake light.

(2) When braking with tail lights on the RHS tail light turns off and only the brake light works. When the brake is released the tail light illuminates again. It is as though when braking one of the filaments in the bulb cuts out and does not come to life again till the brake is released.

I have cleaned all electrical contacts and replaced all bulbs, this has not fixed the problem.

If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them

Regards

Anthony

do your dash lights come one when the brake light is pressed?
sounds like u have a faulty/crossed or single filament globe in the LHS.

replace both globes with quality osram / philips globes regardless!

The dash lights do not come on when the brake pedal is depressed.

I replaced the existing bulbs with the more expensive Phillips globes and got the same result.
