Would you think it's ok to wire the positive of the central locking box to the positive coming from the back of the headunit or would that draw too much power. Also the ground cable... does that have to be connected to a boltor can it be spiced into another existing ground cable?

Be very carefull when connecting thse aftermarket units up as they can draw quite a few amps momentarily which can blow fuses very easily....

i installed the jaycar steel mate locking motors 14 weeks ago and i used the head unit's power supply and it works a treat.

mates and I did mine a couple of weeks ago, we hooked it up to the wiring in the BEM, also used the wires that are already in the car for the previous factory models(apart from the master which had to have it's own wiring)
BTW used Steelmate. |

$40 for the whole central locking rather than $90 for one actuator from ford.
