Will be looking for some large mags for my XF fairmont ghia (prof lowered), what size is the largest that will suit (no rubbing)?

18's are on my ute and it dosen't hit anything. it's lowered and has the front guards rolled.

they were rolled when i bought it.
where the guard has an edge on the inside, it was folded back up. if you don't do this it may scrape, but i wouldn't know as it was already like that.

If you're a bling king then 20's will fit with the right offset.
If your like me then 15x8 would do the job. 15x10 would be a dream come true. |

any bigger than 15s are for noobs haha they r muscle cars u need fat rubber for them go the mighty 14's

as long as it dosen't have 12 slots or snowflakes under it.
im sick of those wheels, they're totally s**t looking! and i do have fat rubber on the 18's (245x40x18), and i used to have 17's with 255x40x17in tyres. the 255's stick like s**t to a blanket, as opposed to the crappy 15's i had laying around.

I work at Beaurepaires, and i can tell you the best reason to go for nothing less than a 15in rim is simply the availability of quality tyres. I've got a Val with 14in rims, and my old mans Muzza has 14's aswell. Basically only tyres available are a Sumitomo or a BFGoodrich, i have one he has the other and they're both s**t house. First plans for the Val are some 16in rims so i can get some good rubber for it.
Back on topic, try to match the rolling diameter of your original tyres. E.g 205/65/15 works out to be very closely matched to a 235/45/17, about 3-4 mm difference in diameter. Any tyre retailer will have a book with that infomation. I've got an XG with 235/45/17's, it's 50mm lowered all round and i've got no problems with rubbing at all, and i've fitted 235/35/18s on a XF with no problems either. Any wider/taller on the front and you could start causing yourself some headaches. Not to mention good tyres will start to cost big $$$. Nankang are not good tyres! |
