Ok, i've got an EF falcon GLI and the roof lining is sagging, it's come away from the foam on the roof, is there any way I can reglue the lining to the foam, it only has to be temporary for a RWC.

I've actually got a can of upholstery glue I stole from the missus, i've used it before so I might give that a shot, failing that i'll thumbtack the thing.

Go to wreaking yards & buy one for $30+ depending on condition & make sure its EL or pay & upolstering person $150+ for a new lining.

No need to buy one from a wreckers at all, there's an upholsterer here who is going to do the job, supply and fit for $140 and I get to choose from 16 colours, sounds like a bargain to me and the guy has been doing this kind of work for years now, damn I feel foolish for not remembering him.

When I did the lining in the EB, I went to an upholsterer and bought the lining for $25, and a pressure pack can of 3M glue for $25. The glue comes out like silly string, and it is apparently the same stuff the pro's use.

If you do it yourself, just make sure you use a brush to scrape off all the old foamy crap from the backing, or the glue won't stick.


To get a perfect finish, remove the entire backing and lining from the car, and lay it on the ground. Clean the crap off, and lay the new material on top and line up all the edges etc. Work all the curves and make sure nothing creeps away from the edges so you don't end up with bits missing from the sides/front etc.

Once you know you have enough coverage, peel back one end of the lining and expose half of the roof material. Spray it with the glue, then slowly roll it back over like you would cover a book with contact.

Once one side is done, roll back the other and do the same. This way you can keep it all ined up without risking it sticking in the wrong place. I found it would have been near impossible to just get two people to try and line it up and drop it, as the sides would have stuck first, and the middle would have been too taut. Centering would have been an issue as well.

I got so p****d at mine sitting in my hair the other day, I ended up stapling the mofo.
