anyone know which wire and what voltage on an el? who ever the f**k installed the last s**t made a right mess of it

yes that answer is correct. the brown wire is illumination

i had a look at a wiring diagram and it was either the brown or the bed with red. i tried both and neither worked

???

If unsure or if the brown doesnt work run it from the lighter light power.

thats a really good idea joolz

found the problem, the unit has a setting in it that defaults to no illumination. not sure if it actually dims all that much really

Nice one Fifty glad you found the problem. Had to play around with the settings on my HU and change to "auto" Looks alot more proffesional when it dims whith the headlights on.

Yeh my sony deck dimmed when the lights where turned off. So i turned it off
