When i start my car lately it idles rough as for about 20 seconds, wobbles and shakes and all.
so i took it to the mechanic and asked what he thought and he thinks maybe the head gasket is f**k. Does anyone know if anything about using a thinner head gasket, i was reading on the mods sticky that itll increase comp and give more power, slightly. Since i told myself from now on everything that breaks will be replaced by "performance" parts im interested in getting a thinner gasket if this one is bust. Also my front and rear mains are shot to s**t so the same applies to them, can you get uprated / stronger / better oil mains or are they pretty much standard. Anyone got a tickford head they want to part with while ive got mine off? Thanks all.

Don't know about the mains, but if you were going for a head gasket I'd go for a genuine AU gasket, its a three layer metal gasket and pretty sure the best you can get without going towards a brass gasket. There were two sizes of brass gaskets but I can't remember the specifics, but they were approx $180 and $200 respectively. I just got a EL XR head and put that in mine because it was getting a bit high in the kilometers and thats the gasket I used. But instead of getting the brass gasket it'd be alot better and cheaper to just get yours shaved, only my thought

Get the head surfaced while its out, its one way to make sure its flat and not warped, has a decent sealing finish, and it just looks so pretty before going on!
