backprobed the cam angle sensor on the ef and on each revolution the voltage stays the same ie. within first revolution the voltage was always 8.66v and within the next revolution the voltage was always 0.12v, seems to be alternating on each revolution. ive read that it supposed to be over 8v between 5 degrees BTDC and 45 degrees ATDC and under 1v at other times. im having cold idling issues, could this be the problem.

Got access to a CRO? That would confirm/deny your suspicions.

This is used by the ecu to determine which stroke cylinder one is on. It will be high on one stroke and low on the next. What you are seeing is correct.

Might be your injector seals allowing air in.

AFAIK thats not how it works. It just sends one short pulse around about the time that cyl 1 is a tdc on compression.

if there was a vacuum leak dont they usaully idle higher, im getting low idle on cold startup.
So if its suppossed to give a short pulse around tdc then what ive read is right and what im getting isint, i think. |

The cam angle sensor gives out a 12v square wave - it has a rising voltage around 5deg BTDC - 45deg ATDC and stays high till the next occurance of TDC, then it drops til next TDC and goes high, and so on.
So it does sound from what you've found is okay.

On LPG it won't matter squat if what i've been told is true - and thats that the cam angle sensor is responsible for working out when the injector should fire.

yes ef's do run fine without the cam angle sensor
