I just had the EF converted to LPG. For some reason i think the mechanic was taking short cuts. Can anyone let me know or upload a photo of the following:
From the LPG converter (think its called that) thats mounted on the tower, is there a hose thats then plumbed into the cold air intake/snorkle? Out of mine i have a hose that comes out half way and goes no where,, so im curious if anyone has a pipe going into their CAI? any feedback would be good. cheers |

The only hose I can think of that goes to the CAI is the rear hose on the top of the rocker cover - this is intake air for the PCV valve up the front. This hose normally goes to the manifold under the throttlebody. The reason being with a conventional converter/mixer system, that line would be feeding air/LPG mix through the cam/rocker area, so a backfire through there wouldn't help much . Hence the need for clean air - this can be fitted anywhere between the air filter and before the mixer, so you're getting filtered clean air.

Are you talking about the balance line from the converter? Depending on the gas setup, they can just be vented to static air, connected to a control solenoid, or conencted to the airbox area to provide an idea of dynamic air pressure when the car is moving.
Is your setup computer controlled? It should be, because the car is an EF.

i am MEANT to have the balence line, but dont as i have a pod filter now. i checked with a gas place and they said its fin not to have a balence line.
i just have a thing comming out of my gas converter without a hose going into it. |

its fine to not have a balance line as long as your air intake is not significantly more "forced" than the static air pressure measured at the balance line
Thats why they put them on the airbox - so the converter sees what the mixer does.

See when i take out the snorkle the car runs better, with it on it sometimes sounds like it wants to stall. so dont know if i should take it back to have the balance hose installed or do i need for it to settle as its only 2 days old the system?

Go back and get the balance hose fitted!
They should have put it on to start with. |

So is this system closed or open loop? (Computer or no computer?)

Im taking it back to the bloke tomorrow morning cause i had enough,, it runs like crap... wouldnt mind seing a photo. but i know for a fact that its the balancer hose |

a balance line problem will usually only show itself at speed. Jeeps and landrovers with snorkels use to suffer this problem - their solution was to turn the snorkel 180 degrees
Dunno how you would tell if your system is computer controlled easily, as every system is different. My EB wasn't, and was just a mixer hooked up to the converter through the vapour line. On a Comp system, you might have a stepper solenoid valve on that vapour line, or a solenoid in line with the balance line (which goes to a low vacuum source on the mixer instead of the airbox in this configuration.) Just look for the extra stuff that wasn't their before the install. A lot of LPG installs are messy as s**t - which was why I did mine myself. The piping looks better than a factory tickford install. All Impco stuff, except for the custom converter bracket I welded up. I mounted the control solenoid on the passenger side strut using the old piping stand-off.

Well got the balance pipe done today and it dosent stall etc. but it idles like its got a lumpy cam now... soon as you take off its smooth but at the lights its really bouncy. Dont get me wrong it sounds tuff but i dont think its meant to be that way...

Nope, if you haven't got any serious mods, LPG should be smooth as. Take it back till they fix it.
