I just removed my head and 1 bolt was quite a lot shorter than the rest, and had no thread, as the rest of it had snapped off. How do i remove the snapped bit????? Here is a pic.

go to repco and get a broken stud remover, looks like a screw with a reverse therad and then drill a small hole in it, and use the tool. if that doesn't work, drill a bigger hole and hit the crap out of a screw driver and try jam it in and turn it out. depend how dodgy you are.

that is a bastard. i also would try drilling a hole in it to get a stud remover bit onto it, but because it's hardened bolt it may be a real prick.
soak it in wd40 overnight, give it a few light taps on the head to loosen the thread up, and also heat it with an oxy around the block (but not too hot). that's all i can think of, otherwise there is some places that specialise in that sort of thing.

If your careful with a welder, you could weld a socket or something on top of the head bolt, just make sure you dont use a piece of s**t socket, use an impact socket and don't weld the actual head to it or you will be f**k.

A nut works well too but its probably not a good idea to use a welder as you pretty much have to get the earth right on the bolt. Too far away (any where from 2 inches away) and you risk arcing through internal parts.

f**k off....u are kiddin me...u could weld a nut on it...u could try a screw extractor...or next time u could try remvoing the head bolts in the fashion that they are meant to be descibed in a manual....usually the reverse way u are meant to torque them....
anyway.....if u have a welder...put a nut a bit nigger then the bolt over the hole....turn the amps up to about 115 or so...and weld the nut onto the stud.....let it cool then slowly and gently work it out with a shifter or spanner... u dont want it gettin caught and breaking again!

i'm sure welding is the way to go. from what i've been told the bolt was already snapped.

You've already mentioned at http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=41457 that you found the bolt snapped and there is oil everywhere.
So more than likely that bolt is already loose (already mentioned in the linked thread) - try it with your fingertip and see if it rocks slightly. If so, use a parallel punch and a hammer and try to undo it anticlockwise - this worked for me, so it should for you also. Since you've said that coolant wasn't a problem, I doubt the threads have corroded and seized.

Try a center punch first to see if it can turn out easily next the easy out method and tap the bolt a few times first..... Do a search this has come up a few times over the years you might find a thread with the result in it.

Jebus some of you guys like to do things the hard way.
Surely its easier to hold the bolt stationary while you rotate the car around it.
