I had difillipo's on my EL XR8, they were good, but lost a bit of low down grunt, and being an auto I would have been better of with tri Y's.
4-1 pipes are better on manuals from experience.

Pipes for the Boss powered BA/BF Falcons are a completely different story to pipes for the Windsor powered E-Series....

The 4-1 design of the E-Series 302w Di Filipo's is not the reason you lost "low down grunt".

It was mainly due to the size of the pipe (1 3/4"), but I still feel that good quality interference headers are more appropriate for low RPM velocity, but in saying this, the header must be configured with firing order & the timing in which the exhaust pulse are combined. (which assists with continuous flow, leaving no voids between pulses)
Most headers only give gains due to bigger pipes with less agressive bends than the mass produced OEM pipes.
