just want to know if the xr8 diff will fit into the xe its got a coil and disc rear but not sure if will bolt in or will need to change parts around at all any help cheers :D

The brake calipers are different, and the EB diff has a flange. also the EB diff has wider brackets on the bottom for the trailing arms, so you'll need adaptors to fit. if i remember, the ratio is 3.27:1. your parkbrake cables won't fit properly, either, you would have to use a shortened XG ute cables to use the EB brakes.

are the xg xr6 ute diffs the same as the xe or the eb? would it be easier to just put a 9" in it instead?

The XG XR6 or std ute or 1 tonne ute all are all leaf spring rear. they are not just a straight bolt in. The lastest falcon diff that will bolt straight into an XE is an EA diff. Not many ratio's to pick from there, 2.77 & 2.92 & maybe 3.08 on the ones with 4speed autos. All were available with LSD, but i think they were all 25 spline axles, 28 spline axles were later.
XE falcons had 25 & 28 spline axles depending on engine fitted.

that helps alot buthow strong are those diffs are they gonna be able to handle the 351 with a shift kit in the tranny? 4got about the leaf spring set up in the utes lol

XD falcons were the first to not be available with a 9" diff. so the 28 spline BW diffs are fairly hardy, they usually had 4 pinion centres.
Regular oil changes does help with longevity of the diff, as well as the correct grade of oil. You can use a straight 140 diff oil. I use this in my 88EA diff with a 3.27 LSD. it is PENRITE oil, good aussie gear.
How these BW diffs stand up is how much grunt you got gonin through it, & what sort of fluid cushion you got, (hi-stall), and how good-a-grip tyres you got too. A 9" will handle quite a bit of power, thanks to a 3rd pinion support bearing. They can be expensive to build (9") depending on how far you wanna go.

well its gonna be a street car but will b in alot of burnout comps so want something that will last not sure bout fluid cushion i have got the car will a dodgy diff and now i can get a new one
