Hey guys just wondering if i put shortened shock absorbers into my EF which has low springs will it lower the car abit more and give a better ride or worse. Cheers

it will give a better ride because the shocks wont be in their firm position when full pushed in. doubt the car will be lower.

It is possible to get the front a little lower by changing the strut. One of the sports ryders shocks from pedders has a lower spring seat, resulting in a 20-30mm drop.

The height wont change at all but the ride will improve if the rear is weighted as you will have more suspension travel. If you only have lows in you dont really need shortened shocks. Also the ride will change with different shocks anyways as some are firmer than others.

Prob gonna go lower soon and thats wen i will think about getting them.

I put superlow springs all round, but only changed to shortened shockers at the back (at the time) and left standard shocks in the front.
After changing the front shockers to shortened shocks the ride feels 100% better, and it did lower the front about 10-15mm just because the car was now sitting on the springs and not the shocks.. Oh and I would now advise anyone changing springs to change shocks too..

As per my post - you CAN drop the front a little bit lower if wanted by getting a strut with lower spring seat. The rear will not change regardless. |

yep your right. pedders sports ryder gsr struts will lower your car 30mm on their own. im running them in my falcon ride quality is good too. problem is they dont come cheap i paid $350 ish trade

The thing to remember is Shockies don't hold the car up, the springs hold the car up, shockies keep the tyres in contact with the road. Now if you get shockies with lower spring seats, that changes the installed pressure of the spring which in turn has an effect on the rate the shockie moves at, at the start of its compression stroke.
If you want handling, rideheight, ride comfort level, you need to get a package set-up, springs & shockies that are compatable, with suitable sway-bars too. The weight of the vehicle is important to the selection of the correct suspension units required for a particular style/rideheight, etc... Check out what they do with rally cars suspension, every road/track they race on, different set-up for the suspension. If you have incompatable springs & shockies, this is dangerous, if not deadly. Hope this has enlightened you. It is a science.

had monroes in mine and it was so bouncy,which were fairly new.then put (think they cal em red ryders) and they improved it a heap,
