Okay, so this is pretty ambitious I think, and I wouldn't be surprised if it never happens. Anyway, I'd like to attempt to try and make a billet grill out of my EF Mont grill surround. Like in the following picture.
Now I wou ldn't mind having a go myself, as it's a small area to work on, unlike the F-Series above. So it might, just might be doable, by myself after getting some practice in welding. Does anyone know where I would get the parts, materials I would need to attempt this? What do they use in the billet grills, stainless steel or something? So I guess I'd need a length of it, cut to to size, and weld it in. Just that would look dodge though, as you'd see the weld points on the surround. But I'll just fit some chrome door trim stuff I've seen on other custom EF Mont grills to line the inner of the surround and hide the weld points. So what you guys think, crazy? lol. Might be a crazy idea, but I think with a chromed Fairmont grill surround, and a billet grill insert, would look sweeet.

Be better off staying with the original colour coded grill surround, going to bunnings, buying a length of 25 * 6mm aluminium flat bar, cutting to length by hacksaw, filing to shape, and then polishing them up. Then cut some shorter verticle bars, and get someone to tig weld them in place for you. Mask off all the front horizontal bars, and paint the rear uprights black so they hide and arent seen. As long as you keep the gap between the edge of the bars and the grill nice and even, it should come out mint. To get the curve across the front of the car, you can cut them to shape and file the radius, put it through a roller, or work out the radiud you need and get the pieces laser cut. Depends how far you want to take it.

Id say get a bit of s**t...cut it to length and have an amount of horizontal bars with 3-5-7 what ever, vertical bars. The if you can take out the existing 'mesh' and ford badge and put that in it would look tops. Just have a couple of small bots, say 4 or 5 to hold it in place. Keep the existing grille surround too. You may want to look into getting a EL surround and doing the above idea in that cause they are bigger. Try get a chrome one too cause that will good great.

Yeah the NF Fairlane grills look good, but they're a bit too bulgy, while the EF Fairmont grill is perfect when you compare it's size to the lights and everything else. So I want to chrome my Fairmont grill surround and then try the billet idea.
Thanks for your thoughts lads.
