I have just purchased a 98 EL futura that has 101,000 km. and I'd like to change the radiator coolant. What is the best way to do this?

undo the lower radiator hose, let all the wter out, take the top hose off, grab your garden hose flush the motor and then the radiator, connect all the hoses back up pour some consintrated anti corrosion s**t in,fill the rest with water and away you go,,run the engine to warm it up then top up as needed.

not sure bout the i6 but u might need to bleed the air out of the system. and dont just use a bit of coolant, i run 50% coolant to 50% water.

the 6's are self bleeding,,an theres no difference between useing 50/50 or useing the consintrated stuff.

You will need to flush the system, turn on the heater, remove the t'stat, (replace the seal when you put it back), remove the hose at the bottom of the expansion tank, jam the garden hose in it, tap on full bore, let it go clear, the start the engine, more stuff will come out, let go clear, then put the hose back on, leave the t'stat out, but have the old seal in it, run some Loctite 15minute Radiator flush in it, must be hot for 15mins. This removes the coolant that has leached into the metal surfaces. Then flush again, same as before, drill a 1/8" hole in the outer of the t'stat near the centre, fit new seal, put your coolant in, and run till hot, with heater still on. Check for leaks. This will take approx an hour to do. Piece of p**s.
