ok guys.
just been fixing the timing on the el motor im rebuliding . and was just wondering should the timming chain be loose on the right side of the cam sproket? the tensioner has been done and there's tension ton the left side but seems slackish on the right side ill try and get a pic. ne help would be great |

You should have the top chain guide bolt in when checking this, but it looks like you've got a problem there. The cam timing may be out. if you wind the engine in direction of rotation, this will pull it tight, but cam timing may be out, if the TDC is right on the crank, and the cam dot may be below the specified point. Take your time and get it right.

well would have the top bolt in but it has vanishd lol got to get a new one on wed after new years.
when i did puit the cam sproket on etc i was all tight ive hand turned the motor over about 5 times and the tdc marks all line up still just seems a tad loose. dose't look like it will go to the next tooth tho. |

the right side will probably be loose until you turn the engine. The crank turning will pull that side tight and the tensioner will take up the slack.
Double check your alignments afterwards, if its that slack after the tensioner has been released you might be a few teeth out.

Thats how my timing chain was, started the car and it didn't cause any problems for me.
