if it is possible how can i do it and how $$ would i be looking at. all i want is some power, is there any other way to do this without a engine change. Also what would be the cost of a manual g/box conversion from an auto.

No one has ever done it before
If you decide to take it on be sure to let us know how you get on and how long it takes... Just kidding it's been done thousands of times I have never done it but logic says you need at a bare minimum: V8 Donk & K Frame V8 Transmission V8 ECU V8 Wiring Loom As for time, well how good are you? |

1st u have to change ur front springs and depending what state u live in you might have to upgrade your brakes (if you dont already have disc at the front) - i dont know what car u have
and will also need to comply with emissions and get a engineers certificate and roadworthy to start with...

Stuff the brakes. Same for I6 and V8... they are within a few kilowatss of each other from the factory. They were fitted with the same brakes from factory.
Springs.. prob different rates between I6 and V8, not a show stopper tho. People have put i6 springs in v8s and vice versa. Emissions etc should be straightforward. You are fitting an engine into the car which was available as a standard option. Last time i looked at the ADR's this required little/no inspection, you just need to advise them of the new engine number for rego purposes. K frame shouldnt need to be changed. Trans will. ECU will. Wiring loom will. If its auto, need a trans control computer.. and the wiring for it. As for the other part of your question, the 6 cylinder is capable of just as much power as the V8. But PLEASE do a search before you ask "what can i do to increase power". See... there's even a sticky at the top of this forum.

1) cheaper to buy a V8 model than convert
2) go turbo but if you are willing to go for it, then go for it. good to see people modifying their cars in all sorts of ways |

There is someone on FF that has done it. IMO its not worth it and for the cash you spend its cheaper to go for turbo.
