I know this has been covered a thousand times.

I would like to know if this sounds strange.

I travelled 327 kms on the highway at 110 kmh in my 1998 NL six cylinder on LPG. Then filled up the car with LPG and it took 48 litres until full again.

Is my LPG running a bit rich, or is Safeway LPG cheap and burns quick at 110 kmh?

This was the range I got on my trip computer when I filled up on LPG. can this be used on a highway run?

Unless your LPG guage is wired to your instrument cluster then the trip comp is useless on that side of it.
What kind of setup are you running?

I am running an Impco system with the gas level running off the factory gauge. There is a toggle switch near the driver's left knee. See the picture for under bonnet set up.

Ah, don't expect great economy then, you get far better out of a complex convertor with simple mixer setup.
That was the reason i asked which setup, i had a feeling you'd say Impco.

Is the set up different to mine? How do I get better LPG economy?

I'm not a fan of Impco on late model cars.
I prefer to run an OMVL R90e convertor with a simple mixer.
My mate was pushing me to run Impco on my 5.0 and i said no, i ended up going my way running the OMVL and simple mixer, economy isn't too bad, i got 465 k's on a very hilly trip and the power is excellent.
I think i'd easily get 500 + from 68 litres on a highway trip.
My EF 4.0 used to get around 450 to 500 around town and 550 to 600 on a trip.
About the only thing you can do is get it tuned again, or change your setup, but don't expect any big results from your tune.
You could always run a GRA throttle body setup as they use Impco convertors, they work really well and you can change jets to get your tune spot on... Not cheap, but you're half way there with the setup.

Spot on the money Walker! I had the same Impco setup on my EB. The best I could get out of gas was around 350 to 400ks out of a 68l tank of gas. Petrol was around 450ks. Me and Toddy took the whole lot out (tank was out of date anyway, and I wanted to fit a sub) when we rebuilt the engine. Now I am dissapointed if I don't get 550 to 600 ks from a tank. My theory is that the gas carby messed up the airflow into the throttle body and slowed it down therefore making the car run rich all the time. Only car I've ever had on gas and I will never have another

I just wanna find out the cheapest and most practical method of converting over. Could any other added mass to the car, or driving at 110 km/h compared to 100 km/h increase LPG consumption?. I am still under warranty. I think I should speak to my PLG fitter next week about fitting a complex converter.

I run a very similar setup camh1980 and I get about 460kay out of 64ltr around town and 580 kays highwa, mine also uses a Impco mixer same as yours on my AU 4.0ltr Auto. Maybe yours just needs a good tune? My nearest servo that I fill up from is a Woolworths(Safeway) as well so dont really think that makes much differance

If you go complex convertor then you need a simple mixer, that's the way it has to be, can't run complex on both, or simple on both.
It's rare you get good economy on Impco, and it's always been the same.
I don't mind it on the old cars, but on newer injected cars it sux imho.
Talk to him about a GRA (Gas Research) throttle body, if he tunes it right then you wont be disappointed, excellent power and economy.

i managed about 600km's from 68litres on LPG on highway with a simple mixer setup, went to GRA and it couldn't match it for economy, but power was much better.

I've just had my EF converted using an Impco set up, and I'd re very surprised to get 330 kays out of 48 litres.

Mines getting 340 kays max out of 65 (or 21l/100)- and this is a brand new setup!

Very disappointing as it's a pain filling up all the time, the only saving grace is that it's less than half the cost of petrol to run!

Show me a pic of your Complex Converter set up please Walker. Anyone else, EFFalcon I have seen your car with the pimped out suede dash, but not under the bonnet of your rocket.
