Alright.

What I am wanting to know is, I read the technical document regarding winding power windows up when the car is locked with the fob.

However.

I have a GLi ED Classic, and I want to be able to do this. But I want to keep the windows manual for everything except the locking of the car. So, the only time they go up in an automated fashion, is when locking the car.

Is this possible? I know that it's probably unlikely that it is, but if anyone can help me out, would be great. If it's not possible, can anyone give me a good idea about how to convert to power windows?

Go and flog one of those Lucas oil stabilizer demo thingos and make a gear system!


Nah seriously a bit of fabrication and a neat pulley setup would work.

Best way I could say is to extend the shaft on the manual winder to protrude the other side of its housing *towards the door skin* then attach a fairly large cog onto it, and then attached to a fairly weak brush motor.
Weak because when you wind the window... the motor armature will turn also the stronger the motor the more force required. Unless you can make a solenoid setup like on a starter motor

But really...... change the man to auto regs and be done with it?
Want manual winders? Make a bracket and have micro switches to the lever and lift up = up and vice verse

seriously tho, you could use an electric antenna gearbox which has the clutch already in it.

You might be able to hide that in the armrest cavity.
