Well im doing a sub install while the car is off the road and its the holidays.

First of all i want to know how people went about doing their full install.

I want to put a false floor in and still have access to the spare wheel.

I was thinking that i measure up the old box i had so i know the height i need. I then make a box the right capacity for the sub and place that in.

I would put a bit of woodabout 5-10cm from the sub box to the end of the car. On this i would have a piano hinge for the false floor. I would put other bits of wood there so it has some support.

For the sides i was thinking i would make the boot square. In the side have my sub amp on one side and make up a place for another sub later on. The other sub will run the speakers in the car.

Does anyone have any dimentions on their sub installes for an EF/EL?

I much liked cooki-monsters but i dont want the subs on the floor but on the side where the premo sound sub goes.

I was also thnking that i will port my box because IMO its louder and thats what the specifications on the sub have. 42L ported.

Is there a formula for working out the volume of the box easily? The way i was going to do it was measure the old box and find out what dimentions it is deep and high and i would then find out how wide it would be so that it is the right size.

Any tips or advice i should know before i start?

Hey mate I will get some pictures of the false floor which I have just made. I used 8mm MDF board and some wood my dad had.

I first made a frame using the spare wood...and then used the 8mm MDF board and cut it to size to fit into the lower part of the boot. glued and nailed the frame onto the bottom MDF board. Nailed some waste wood onto the underside to keep the whole false floor even.

I then made a 2 part cover...one over the spare wheel which can be opened and closed and the other one is going to be held down by velcro (spelling?). The second lid covers the petrol access hatch and a little compartment I made for some small tools.

It isn't completely finished. I'll post up as soon as I can.

just been doing up some sketches and i will make the box without a face on it to start.

I will place that in and put a stripe about 5-10cm at the base of the box and put the false floor in.

Place the face of the box on then.

Make up the sides and then carpet the thing.

Thanks for the idea of having the other half of the flase floor opening. That would be good for having tools so i can help holden drivers when they break down.

i placed the old box in there
so i will first build a box to size and get that in.

Ill start the box tomorrow if i get some time. For now im going to do up some measurements and more drawings
