Hi Guys,
I am having some issues witht he ABS system in my 95 EF Fairmont. The Check ABS Light is illuminated on the dash, combined with the abs system not working in general.

I have tried reading the codes by shorting the ABS STI pin to ground, and the Check ABS light will flash twice, then a delay, then four times before returning to its fully illuminated state...

So, what do the codes 2, then 4 mean in terms of the ABS system?

I have had the car up on a hoist, and all the sensors look fine, and were all connected correctly, so not sure what could be wrong there....

If any one could point me int he right direction, that would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks
Simon

Put your battery on charger... and if the check ABS light is still on keep looking for the problem ( Check ABS Light in my EF Fairmont usually means the battery needs charging or so ive been told)

I think that is code 24, what that is i don't know, don't have a manual to look that up. The sensors could look fine on the outside, but can bugger up inside, the ohms reading could be out, they are a specific value, need specs to check them too.

Hmm, that does not sound right, the ABS currently does not function when the car is running, so the alternator would also be running, hence in theory the battery should have nothing to do with the problem.

Going to chuck the car back up on the hoist now and check the resistance of each of the sensors....I suspect the passenger side front one may be the one giving issues.

Although if the 2 and the 4 meant code 24, according to the doc on the ABS system in the EF/EL's, the ABS modulator unit needs to be replaced...
