I have an EL 6cyl, and sometimes when its bucketing down with rain and you cant help but avoid a large puddle my car will start to misfire.

Now I am pretty sure this is due to the water getting into the dissy and mucking things up until it sorts its self out and becomes all good again. Does get pretty bad and feels like its running on only 3cyl!

Does anyone know of possibly another cause, or even have the same problems as me and is there a solution?

PS - avoiding puddles is the most logical answer, but sometimes cant be avoided, AND i would have thought it would be a bit more water resistant than that.

could also be splashing up onto the coil, you could make a plastic splash guard around the coil maybe.

next time it is raining try wrappiing a plastic bag around it and hit a few puddles and c if it still does the same thing.worked for me,make sure it is well covered and sealed tightly,hope this helps

its your distributor cap may be loose or cracked or your coil could be f**k and due for another

Could apply some silicone grease inside the coil lead boot to stop water from getting in ( could also be a small crack in the coil itself) and yes check for a cracked dizzy cap.
