Name - dunno.
Function - dunno.
lol!
Nah, im told its there in the event of a backfire from the engine so that it blows off or apart instead of the air box.. How true this is Im not 100% sure, but either way my fbt doesnt have it on, ive got a cap off something over it atmo on hell tight and have gained power from removing it; the 1st owner showed me this and gave it to me when i bought the fbt so i could return it to stock if i ever wanted to.
It also takes away from the sensitivity of the throttle from what i felt.
When I get the chrome intake pipe put on ill do-away with it completely!

I had gas on my NL when purchased and tried to find an intake pipe for it. I ended up getting a Herrod "power pipe" from XR8Chic for mine.

From what I have read previously on here it's been refered to as a resinator. I've seen them on intakes on trucks and such aswell.

yea, it's just a resonator, and as far as i know, it serves no real-life purpose other than just sitting there

Quieten down induction noise as well as prevent airbox blowing up in case of a backfire. Big welsh plug where mine was..

Pete told Trickflow EL to put his back on, as it does have an effect on performance!

Maybe Pete has a bit more theory to add.

Shortly after i bought my car I queried the mechanic on the "plastic s**t looking thing" and was told it acts as an air 'resevoir' (i'm sure there's a much more technical term for it) for when you snap the throttle open.

Ahhhh... factory intake plumbing... memories :?

its technical name is a resinator and just helps with the induction ( flutter) noise when ideling does not effect preformance of engine what so ever and just a waste of time removing it

it helps heaps on my nf with the lpg, every so often when it backfires it blows it off and saves my K&N and air box. Snaps for the "s**t thing".
