The VL uses a hot wire sensor, and it doesnt impede airflow. its a very good system.
Im not sure abou the VK commodore - I think they both used bosch injection but Im 99% sure about the VL. Just dont do it Nigel |

yeah.... its a mates VL, and latly its been struggling to gather revs over 2000rpm, so we traced it back to being a problem with the air flow meter, we just ended up putting tons of tape over it and that seemed to fix it perfectly, but was just looking for a more perminent approach

I think the person telling you that has gotten a bit confused between the airflow meter with the throttle body. The XF throttle body is a common mod to RB30 skylines and commo's

That`s the one...would`nt put an XF AFM near anything but the bin...dunno what your mate`s commie`s doing but taping up the air inlet says it`s a fuel or sensor problem...that and youse`re s**t mechanics

A bit more info: Holden needed the upper inlet manifold and throttle body too be reduced by Nissan, so as to fit in the Vl engine Bay( so holden reckon's). With the 60mm throttle body found on the RB30e jap engines the standard vl engine would produce more power than the v8 models. Holden marketing executives didn't think it was a good idea marketing a 6cyl and a V8 where the 6cyl has more power than the V8. Also the stock vl RB30 throttle body has a 54mm butterfly with a 70mm mouth. cheers..........
