does any know how much oil a high energy sump holds on an ebxr8.
when i changed my oil after the first 500k's it took 9.5 lts to fill to the full mark on the dip stick,my engine builder recons thats too much should be 7.5,so i took 2 lts out now its just below add oil, rang him back and he's worried it might be abit low so i put it back,he going to try and find out for me but i thought someone here may be able to clarify.

Thats wat i thought, but he did say we just used your old dipstick and its in the same possy,he was surprised it took nearly 10 lt's though, but was more worried when 7.5 was low on the stick, obviously low oil will do damage but high oil levels can also cause probs he recons, said there is a sticker on the side of the pan and hes sure it said 7.5.i'll check with him tomorrow after he's made afew inquiries.

You have to calibrate the stick on new sumps like these. 9.5L is too much.
7.5L is the most you need. The high energy pan I used on my 351w came with an aftermarket stick that is nothing like the original. If I had used the Full mark that was on it it would have been coming out the rocker cover! Pete. |

Pete. that dont make sense to me Wouldn't you use the same dip stick and go by the full mark on that, because all you are changing is the bottom of the sump to hold more oil, mine has the windage tray too |

i rang outlaws today and spoke to the guy who sold the pan to my mechanic, the book has it holding 8.5 lt's.i'll get my mechanic to check the stick height when he does it's 1000km inspection, recons it easy with a bit of wire.
