Can the computers in the 94 ED V8's cause the trip meters to stop working if the are after market or will it just be the dash that isnt working properly?

if it is the odometer in the speedo head that is a common thing. there is a little gear inside that breaks/loses a tooth and doesnt turn.

i have a good dash but the dash klm are different to the car and the computer and it dos'nt turn like normal
