Hi there all. I have reason to have to replace the door sill on my EL wagin. I have approached a Ford parts place, and they tell me 1) I cannot simply buy the door sill, I have to buy the complete side,(door openings) and, 2) it is out of production.

I have looked at the door sill, and it does seem to be one piece, not like they used to be, and that was a separate piece you could unstitch and re-weld a piece in.

My question is: are there any panel beaters reading this that can confirm what the parts man has said? Secondly, is there any easy way around this. I can see myself having to go to a wreckers and cut out the part that I want, hoping I get a good bit.

Most models come as a complete side complete with hinge pillars and sill you just have to cut the bits off you want and weld them in.

The part might be out of production but some dealers might still have them in there warehouse.

Yep. Went to my local parts place, and actualy got a printout of the appropriate page. also found out I can actualy buy the door sill only, as it is a wagon, and uses the Fairlane floor. But, as yousaid, the price. I was quoted $516 including. I am goin to buy the section, but I need to save a few more pennies!!!

Again: thanks heaps
