Yep, instead of dropping a timing guide my automotwah has decided it'll take out the brace for the idler gear... Thus allowing the guide to 'guide itself' into the sump as of a result of the floating endplay.

SO! I need to know what the torque specs are for the allen key bolts holding the idler gear.
Also I take it loctite is a goer with this altho it had no indication of having any in the first place.

Fortunately the timing wasn't disrupted and i had no collision with the valves.

So Advice.... I need a new chain and gears... do i just get second hand gears and a typical chain? (no longer a ford item)

Any suggestions or other comments would be fantastic!

cheers

i work at an autopro store and we stock timings chains and guides. not the gears tho, that'd be genuine or a wrecker. (ie. most car part joints should be similar)

It is advisable to change gears and guides together but I wouldn't be to fussed about it.

A full kit is about $120 from memory (been a while since I needed one ). That has everything - tensioner, guides, gaskets, chain, all 3 gears, etc, etc.

There are also guide kits that have the gaskets guides and chain are roughly ~$60-80.

Both kits are readily available.
