I had a new compressor installed 3 years ago. Would you guys say that this a about right, and it could be time for another re-gas. My air-con is blowing less and less cold air?

i had mine re gassed about 9 months ago...going to get it done again cause my mate can get it done for free...so why not :P its only like $80, and a lot cheaper than getting something replaced! we was told we needed a new compressor about 3 years ago, seems to be working fine now :P

If it needs a regass then its leaking somewhere & by law they must fix the leak b4 gassing the system

Airon's dont 'use' gas... its a cycle thing... if you're losing it, its leaking. Realistically on a perfect system, you would never run out of gas. but unfortunately with the movement of the car, this can cause fittings to listen, hoses to crack, etc... they will need to find the leak THEN top it up

Yep they have come down hard on this, you know have to be a licenced A/C workshop to purchase the gas and lots of rules to do with not just gassing up a leaking system, they will eventually catch up with the workshops that don't care and just top up.

to expand on that... the company has to have a licence, and hold certain tools and prove they have those tools to get that licence, all mechanics who deal with car aircons in that company have to have an individual licence also.

And im the poor sucker who has to deal with these mechanics when i tell them they cant buy refrigerant cause they dont have a licence!

Nah I've had a better look at it now, it seems it's blowing a mixture of warm and cold air with the auto air-con set to face, but becomes really cold if I set it to face and feet. Sounds like one of the doors inside now doesn't it. Could be a harder fix than fixing leaks even.. :x
