Well, im sure if you could find a car that floats you could drive to kangaroo island... My uncle used a tom tom i believe, he thought that was quite good? Used it in tasmania, and over here in wa too'

I paid 400 for my navman ICN320 installed into the car, and it works a treat. Nothing flash and it does the job fantastically.

Do any of these Sat Nav systems s**t you after a while, as in the voices telling you directions or can you turn them off, etc?
I'm fairly keen on getting on soonish. |

I've got a Navman Mio 168 PPC with SmartSt installed. It does the job for me, and yes you can turn off the voice prompts. I've found the prompts to be verry annoying in city traffic, or anywhere else where intersections are so close together you have to look at the map anyway to work out which "Turn left!" is the real one

Also... being a PPC, you can put whatever else on it you want, and even change nav software if you want to later on.

Cool, thanks guys. So is there any particular brand in the cheaper sort of range thats any better than the others? Around $400-$500ish
For that sort of money its like the NavMan cheaper one, and a Mio (white one) and a cheap Voxtrack or something? Any good or bad ones there? |

Thanks Twirqurky, i might have to have a look see at that Navman model then. I'm not really fussed how flashy they are, if it can tell me some directions, and it actually helps get me to places i'll be happy. I can't seem to drive and concentrate looking at the street directory as well as i used to...
I mean i don't really need or want one of those ones that has a camera, and a big hard drive, etc... Just something basic that works well. |

The new version of destinator is crap dont use it. thats my 2c
