Has anyone tried the new CAPA Xcalibrator 2 or Strategy Flash Device on a Boss 290, if so I'd like to hear your thoughts, thanks

One of my friends has just recommended this to me as well. I dont have a BA put am contemplating it for an EF. So will let you know if i purchase one.

The XCal2 is pretty cool with its datalogging, and ability to modify some parts of the calibration via the flash unit itself. Worth the premium over the original XCal1 if you dont already have one.
The XCal2 SF just has the generic tunes built-in to the device so that it doesn't have to go to a dealer to have the correct "generic" tune flashed into it. They all use the same software to develop the tune/calibration, aka SCT Advantage 3.0, so nothing has changed there. Just go the normal XCal 2... |

No, thats the original flash tuner box aka XCal1. The new version XCal2 adds data logging, and some minor adjustments from the box. Your EL will need the Eliminator chip, as XCal's are only for OBDII vehicles. The Eliminator chip uses exactly the same tuning software as the XCal boxes though (SCT Advantage 3.0), so there is no real difference to the chip vs the XCal. |
