Can any one tell me if it is normal for my oil pressure gauge to drop when it is idling and then increase when i accelerate? If it is not normal what would be the problem??? Sorry for such a dumb a** question

Yeah it's normal mate. What happens is when the engine idles the oil pump is turning slower. As the revs rise so does the speed of the oil pump, hence it raises oil pressure.

I think every car is different, because some of ours just stayed smack bang on the third increment the whole time, others fluctuated with throttle. Just make sure you have plenty of oil (not too much obviously) and everything should be fine.

You'll notice that the oil pressure changes with engine temp too.
