OK, any ideas on how to "crack" the rear brake disks from the axle. All I want to do is check and adjust the hand brake on my EL sedan but cannot get the disk to move. I have removed the caliper and mount and removed the single screw on that fixes the rotor to the axle. I have given it a couple of wacks with the hammer (nothing too serious). Should I just belt it harder or are there any other tricks to it?

once u have taken the screw out then it should just pull off easy..... u sure the complete caliper is off...... casing aswel....???? if every thing is off then maybe just give it a few harder wacks

there is a little rubber plug in the disc, remove it and it will line up with the handbrake adjuster, wind em in and the disc will come off easy, clean it all up, throw the disc back on , adjust them back up and bobs your uncle.

also spray some crc arond the centre

Basically its the same as removing a drum from an older car. make sure the handbrake is off, remove the retaning screw, tap the drum on the side as you wiggle the drum off, if you need to - back off the handbrake adjuster ( i didn't and my hand brake works fine) a little CRC around the centre is a good idea.

I did my back about six months ago on this same project i pulled and belted at the rear rotors for two days until finally the old bloke next door comes out and says what the bloody hell are you doin. Anyway cut a long story short go and get yourself a large three pronged wheel puller. It has three arms and like a large bolt in the middle, the arm grab the edge of the rotor and the large bolt pushs against the hub as you screw it in with a spanner. But beware whilst screwing it in do it slowly as I nearly took my head off when it finally came free. You should be able to get one from super cheap for around $30.

Good luck Brice You've got a problem if you have to use a puller to remove your rear disks!
