c'mon, no need for insults kapul, that just proves a point, which one you can figure out.
I've seen some of these vavle thingos on some jeremy clarskon dvds, they were fitted to the tailpipe though.

Valves of that type are just an expensive version of the old cast iron dumper that you can buy from Moroso via Rocket.
They're good till they carbon-up and sieze. Hmmm... If they malfunction in the wide-open state, you may receive unwarranted attention from coppers. In the closed position they would offer a substantial restriction to flow and performance. A correctly fitted exhaust system will give you the best of both worlds with no moving parts without the added expense. Another old f@rt's opinion. Hard-earned experience |

Hard-earned experience Im sorry i have nothing against older experienced guys. I just get revved up wen i hear ppl generalizing, saying that all teenagers dont know better. Well I know alot of teenagers and ppl in there early 20's that would kick the pants off alot of older guys. Again sorry fo the outburst, i just hate bein boxed up in a category

I didnt think about them getting clogged up. That would be a pain. Apparantly the APS exhaust for the XR6T is quiet while still flowing really well. I might see if can find out what mufflers they are using. |

I made my own with plenty of glass and centre chamber about 4 litres...
The old system with single 3"offset in /out straight through muffler and two resonators worked well... It was sick... And I'm 53.....Hahaha

Jim Beam: Thanks for sharing the APS pic.
That's a very good example of a performance exhaust for a turbo I6. The 3.5" front section would offer good flow and the dual 2.5" mufflers and rear section certainly would flow even better due to the greater cross-section. Getting a 3.5" pipe over the diff without hitting the body or standard suspension would be a challenge. With lowered suspension it would be a nightmare. A pair of 2.5" pipes is much easier to package. Behind a N/A (naturally aspirated) I6 you'd lose exhaust velocity in the 3.5" section. Down low it would feel flat and unresponsive. Would work well at higher RPM but only after struggling to get there. I reckon it would make a great basis for an exhaust in a N/A 5-litre. |
