what would bottled water or spring water be like to use?

Bad,

They're generally high in minerals.

Distilled/Demineralised water is cheaper and easily obtained.

I just flushed the cooling system in my computer, replaced with demineralised water, and 200mL of Nulon Ultra Cool, Glycol free inhibitor. </nerd>

It's not going to kill anything. Just it's higher in the minerals that'll gunk it up (like what hard water mentioned above would do).

Ever had that leak? Always been concerned about mixing these water cooling systems and electronics.

Not really a leak, but a loose seal the the coolant evaporated through. Fixed with some thead seal tape.

As always you should let the system run pump only for a period of time, to check for leaks before you get the computer running. For example yesterday I had the pump running from a 12v SLA battery for 2 hours afterI refilled it. i wasn't expecting any leaks as I didn't pull anything apart. But just to be sure.
