Hey guys,

I need to redo my fuel system as the guy who owned it before me thought it was a good idea to run rubber hose from front to back for the main feed line.

Im going to reattach the stock metal line this weekend and not sure wether I can be bothered mounting my surge tank just yet. Is everyone here running a surge tank or not?

If you dont run one, are you doing anything tricky to stop fuel surge when the fuel level gets low? My EA, AU and EB all suffered from it when the fuel level got below half and I got stuck into the throttle.

Post up photos of your surge tank setups if you have some? Are they in the boot in generic tanks or more custom than that?

just have an 044 mounted in the factory sender unit, the falcon tanks have a nice built in surge pot so they work well, with mine down to 1/4 ive never had a fuel surge issue

Have you done anything to the factory surge pot in the tank? I have had surge issues in all of my turbo falcons so far. Maybe I just run them too low.

Did you mount an external 044 in there? Thats what I have sitting in my room. Was it hard to do?

Got any pics handy?

Awesome, thanks for that. I'd rather run it in the tank. I hear they are pretty noisy.

my XF turbo doesnt run surge tank, just mounted the 040 in the original swirl pot, always has fuel no matter what, thats why the original swirl pot works so well.

i also have problems with fuel surge below 1/4 tank, i just have a 500hp walbro pump in the original swirl pot and bracket.

i was also thinking of going to a surge tank, larger fuel lines and larger pump for my new engine

wonder why they surge at 1/4/ tank?? thats plenty of fuel, especially with the swirl pot? this isnt when you are going round corners or anything??? But even then it still shouldnt surge as the swirl pot always has fuel in it.

Mine always surged when going straight and flooring it.

Doesnt matter now anyway. I fitted a surge tank in the boot today. Just got to get a fitting for the 044 pump and a few bits of hose to complete the install.

Im going to mount the pump under the car where the old pump was in front of the tank.

My turbo also does that through second if you give it a bootful with less then a quarter of a tank onboard. The XT seems fine with whatever. Both running stock fuel systems.

So I hear. If its too bad, Ill try and stick it in the tank. The old pump was pretty loud as well but it was bearable.

Noise isnt a big deal to me. You should hear the noise my maverick makes when its moving! If it was a daily I would be more concerned.

Did you keep the check valve on your pump?
