Hi all,
My interior lights don't shut off after closing the doors. They do after 1hour however I am sure that is todo with the computer turning them off to save the battery (Manual states this) Is there a common reason for this or will I need to check the switches in the door? Iv noticed in the main light is like an electrical plug hanging down. Would that be important lol? 1997 Ford Falcon Futura Thanks Adam |

Check the boot light switch. You are right; the ecu will turn off the interior lights after some time.

Hi xhute0,
Ok I have had a look and I cannot even find a switch in the boot! Know any idea where it is located? -Adam |

Its located Inside the Latch itself.
Have you checked the interior light switch itself? The one on the headlight switch surrounding.... I'd say its that.

Hi Krytox,
That was it the switch by the headlights. The little knob snapped of a few months ago and was left in the up position! Thank you. Next problem with the lights is the maplights (the ones that are in the dome and have their own switch) are not working, I have checked their bulbs and they look fine. Perhaps thats what the electrical cable hanging off is for? -Adam |

most probably.
From memory, theres black / blue+black and green/yellow. The blacks earth, the Blue/black is interior light and the green yellow is the map light power. If thats disc. then theres your reason. Perhaps the green/yellow wire has melted due to the heat from the constant int. light being on. I recall this wire travels OVER the interior light in many cases to get to the maps circuit. Or theres been an attempt to turn the interior light off. But please check the rear map lights, If these power up with the doors shut (ie: with the switch) then you have power going to the centre lights. If theres no power at the rear then you might have to go fishing for the fault.

Hi Krytox,
I have just checked the rear lights. And you can turn them both on by putting the little switch to the top. Which I assume from what your saying is good news interms of wires not melting? Guess I will need to borrow a m8's volt meter to see if there is any power going there. There isnt cables hanging down its a male plug I could grab a picture. Thanks Adam |

if the male plug is diconnected from the light then thats ur prob, but b4 u plug it up, make sure theres no short in the light itself.
I know the plug, its a black right angle type, the other 2 wires go to the festoon lamp and are integrated crimps.
