A number of things can be causing this problem. The first one would be if the impedence of the driver is too low for the amp. The alpine should be able to handle a load of 2 ohms, now if you have a dual 2ohm voice coil driver but in parallel it will bring it down to just 1ohm which would cause over current. Another reason could be the speaker cable may be shorting on the chassis which amps do not like. If you have multi meters you can test the resistance of the driver and any shorts to chassis.
