Look on the front of the cyl head, it'll have 3.9 or 3.2.

This article says that the 3.2L motor was discontinued in
December '88. How does this add up with the build date
on your EA ??

It's probably worth more with a 3.2 then a 3.9.
3.2s are rare as

a 3.2 with MPFI and a ticky head would be an interesting project :)

My EA is 4/88, Seadn in 'S'pack, factory 3.9 MPFI, 5sp, 2.92 LSD, A/C.
I have seen a plated 12/87 EA Wagon. It was gotten by Qld Rail, they got it before they were released to the public. How I don't know, but they put 100,000k's on it in 6 mths. They used it to run train drivers out to trains where the other train drivers said they were too tired to drive. I worked in QR back in 1990, and saw that happen for myself.
