turning the car off in gear isnt a problem, i doo it all the time going from manual to auto is a killer.

the shifter moving withut having to push the button, is it wound down to tight, as that will force the botton in.

plus, are you saying that it wont start when placed in "p" or "n"

Sounds like the linkages for the shifter are loose, or when the box was put in, the linkages were not aligned properly. Get that sorted and it should be right, or just find the neutral cutout switch and disable it, this is what is stopping the car from being started in gear

Check those things and if it doesn't resolve itself it'll be a trip to the mechanics to have the valve body removed and the trans serviced.

I had a similar problem recently with my V8. Left it parked, running to cool down. Temp actually shot up. Went to drive away and it would only select reverse in all gear positions. Turned out to be the valve body although i was able to do the work myself to remove it. Essentially the valve body was not sealing properly. I shift kitted it to a more mild level than the stage three that was in there. Hasn't missed a beat since.

make up a lead with a spade connector and with the help off a friend remove the connector on the starter solinoid and replace with your made up lead. get your friend to jump in the car and turn ignition to on and touch the made up lead to the starter to the battery positive to start the car.

need a friend cos your car will start in gear!!! dont want to run yourself over now do you!!

thats a s**t way to do it. The better way is to run those terminals from the starter relay. i belive the gregory's manual even shows you how to.

I have made up a simple remote starter from a length of twin core and a narva starter button. Costs peanuts to make. Make it long enough to operate from within the car.

it may be a s**t way but it gets the job done. we all dont have starter buttons lying around but we always have a length of wire somewhere. I have even just stripped the wire and pushed it in with the proper wire.

it gets you out of the s**t, thats the main thing
