I doubt it, the 4.0L already has a big enough stroke as it is

by all means correct me if im wrong...
but if you just put the rods in, that would mean that the compression would just be extremely low, the stroke of the crank would still be the same unless you mean get a new crank and throw in there aswell

Well, assuming you are going to offset grind the crank and end up with big ends that fit the 1600 rods and the small end fits the ford piston, and the rod length puts the pistons in the right place at TDC, then yes it may be possible to do it. But even if they do fit then it really doesnt make the job any easier, its the crank work that is the big deal, picking the right rod is a formality.
Why the hell you would bother stroking a 4.0 anyway, the stroke is too long already.

I have seen Holden 186 conrods used in a 1600 VW engine, with 92mm big bore kit, which took it out to 2 or 2.2 litres. The crank pins were offset ground to achieve a stroker affect, to use the 186 rods.
But Dato 1600 rods?????, thats an 'L' series engine, so why not use L20 rods, they are longer.????
