ok i was told this by a mate
"the dude at tafe with the eb said, on the falcons if u disconnect the batt for 20mins, then reconnect it and start it in neutral then leave it siting in ur drive in "D" with the park brake on for 15mins it erases the ecu's mem and then it relearns how you drive so if u go hard it will learnd to hold ur gears longer apparently it changes HEAPS" is there any truth behind this or is it all a load of rubbish |

'tis true . and always disconnect earth first ..
Dunno 'bout hold gears longer tho , but it can liven things up.. some models after disconnection , turn key to on , and hold you foot on the brake for 10 seconds.. otherwise it may only erase Kam ..[keep alive memory]..then it goes into relearn mode .. oh yeah and if radio is coded you will have to re-enter code . |

The only way to make the auto hold gears longer ( without mods), is to switch it to POWER. That is it. This is meant for towing.

yup when fitting mods such as shiftkit/exhuast/mirror air freshener, always DC the battery for 30mins, then plug back in, the ecu will learn how you drive abit and shift accordingly, @100 do you want 2nd? hehe.

it will still reset the ecu and it will posably clear any fault codes that are stored in the ecu. |

only if the car is running a little sick or has old fault codes that havnt been erased.. like if you had a faulty hego sensor or act sensor and they have been replaced and the ecu hasnt been reset.. the fault is stored in the ecu so it will change to try to compensate for the fault... but if there is faulty sensors or any thing like that it will soon learn that there faulty and will go back to normal... |
