just wondering if anyone has put NOS on a I6 engine....reliably, i think forged pistons are needed for larger NOS systems?

No such thing as reliability with Nos. even a bullet proof built engine won't last long with repetitive dose of laughing gas. costly in short/long term I reckon, plus its illegal.

I would argue that it is detrimental to your engine, I have put over 50 bottles through my 5.0, and i feel that a little say 75-100 shot on a six will be fine for years if the tune is correct

NOS destroys your engine fast and for high performance racing applications engines need rebuilding every few races. |

Yea, but whats the point of having it installed and hooked up if you cant use it?
Also, in tasmania, you cant have it totally hooked up. You can have the system installed, but you have to take the NOS bottle completely off and seal the system for it to be legal.

Again, I say that if the tune is right, and there is no detonation then NOS is fine for the application. What needs to be considered is the age of the engine and the useage. For an all out race motor pushing 400-500hp NOS then that will destroy a stock motor in seconds, but a little shot of say 50-100 will be fine. If you get a chance look up any of the NOS setups at www.holley.com and go through the instructions for the kit. It will give you a guide as to what a stock motor can and cannot handle
