I recently bought an escort passport 8500 x50, and i was wondering if people could give me some average distances of detection, and how often places such as servos false the detector, just so i can compare with mine, thanks!

try not speeding unless you know there wont be a radar there. I do almost double the limit to work every weekend (80km.h limit) and i know that because its a black spot in the hill there wont be a radar. And part of the fact that i have to be at work at 4am. But coing home is different. I go a little slower cause people are up and all.

yeah i often try to do something similar to that, like a stretch of the freeway you drive through before on the same day. still gotta watch out for highway patrol though

every petrol station sets mine off.
k band.

but if it eva flashes ka i hit the brakes hard (speed camera).

the radar u got is ment to be the best 1 that can pick up aussie speed cams.

in mine i usually have enough time to hit the brakes look ova and be doing about 90 in a 100 zone from 120.

i usually dont go much faster then 110-20 cause any faster and the detector really doesnt help u.

u will just get a smaller fine.

i have a bel 880i. i think thats it.

...this is probably a noob question...why exactly does it detect when you go past a servo?

You wont pick up laser, very thin beam, unless they are hand held and a bit unstable in aiming it. Some cops, especially the traffic boys dont turn their K band on till they see a car they want to target, if they leave it on, your right, you get so many falseys in the city. Ku isnt used here yet.
