You need to formulate a new MAF transfer function and program that into the EEC. Done a couple of these with TwEECer BTW.
I did an 80mm Cobra MAF like this many years ago for a guy but he never brought the car around for me to recal then subsequently blamed me for the poor running of his car. Dumb C***! Pete. |

Restrictive? They are not even close to restrictive on a stock motor. Think about it, they were not designed for your deep breathing stroker. As for real restrictions, the stock exhaust manifold is the first restriction on a stock motor. From there, decide what capacity & work backwards with heads, manifold, perhaps a cam (while motor is open), TB/EGR (best size will depend on heads/intake/cam/crank), then finally worry about the MAF (& injectors).

What Sam said.
As an example; my mates' 5.0 Capri makes 305rwhp and is 0.02V off maxing out his 70mm Cobra MAF. Pete. |

i was gonna do this to mine when havin a flash tuner fitted on the dyno , because it must be a restriction MAF 70mm=TB65mm when you subtract the decrease in area from the bar the area of the MAF is smaller than the TB???

i've got the same prob tb65mm maf70mm but very restrictive,my cars at the dyno at the minute i'll do the mod later when i get a decent exhaust then get some minor adjustments on the dyno and see wat difference it makes.
my tuner said take the maf home do the mod bring it back but i'm worried i may fcuk it up and then we're stuck.

i was gonna do mine as a budget MAF replacement it cant hurt as long as what Pete said you have to be able to tune it to the extra airflow ...it would be easy enough to do yourself, cuttin the bridge out??

You forgot about the throttle blade and shaft in the t-body. The 70mm MAF still flows more. Another example is a 55mm MAF(which has a periferal back flow inhibitor) flows more than the 60mm stock t-body. Pete. |
